I didn't remember what month that was, or what year even. I only knew the memory lived in me, a perfectly encapsulated morsel of a good past, a brushstroke of color on the gray, barren canvas that our lives had become.

I didn't read The Kite Runner, but I saw the movie, which was very touching. Excellent quote.
Nice quote Veens. I read book his books back to back and you can imagine how much of an emotional impact these books can have on a person.
Hard to read due to the subjects but even harder to put down once u have started.
What a powerful quote, Veens. Wow!
This book contains so many wonderful passages. My favorite quote comes early in the book, on the first page:
"That was a long time ago, but it's wrong what they say about the past, I've learned, about how you can bury it. Because the past claws its way out."
Good one Veens. I loved The Kite Runner.
